My 86 Ford Ranger:

This page is dedicated to the buildup and modification of my Ranger.
This is the first vehicle that ive owned (that was worth anything) before it, i had a 79 chevy Luv pickup and used it to learn to drive with and ended up smashin it against some trees and blew a headgasket and sold it to my friend for twenty dollars. We bought the ranger for my mom to go to work in back in 1992 and then she got a BroncoII so i got the ranger from her in 1993. Since then ive been working on it and modifying it to suit me.

1st. Mod was my duel exaust.
I had the catalytic converters removed and true duel exaust run out the pass side right behind the door with Duel Cherrybombs. But then i decided to finish it and i now have the pipes exiting out the rear right below the rear bumper.
2nd. Mod was my 4" body lift from summit racing.
I got my uncle to help me install it since he has airtools and a welder (this was before i got my welder), the welder was needed to take the sloppy play out of my steering adapter and the pin didnt fit quite right so we welded it in. The lift went in pretty easy, we did it in 1995 starting christmas day. While doing this i found out that i needed new rubber body mounts and will get some soon.

3rd. Mod, I then got a set of 30" mud/snow tires for it.
I went from a 195/75/R15 tire to a 30" tire which made a huge lack of power and made my speedometer off by 10-15 MPH! which is where i started to think about how to get more power.
4th. Mod, The stock stereo had to go.
The stock system just wasnt up to my standards so i got a POS Road Gear cd player that ended up breaking and wouldnt play cd's, so they replaced it with a newer version of the road gear cd player and it works pretty good. i also installed a 400W amp and i had a set of 15" subwoofers in my bed (i had a cap on the truck), but since i wanted to take the cap off i sold the 15's to my brother and i got a set of 10" Road Gear subwoofers for behind the bench seat. They work great for the price and all.

5th. Mod, My brush gaurd.
Since i was still in High School yet, and i had metal shop, i decided to add a huge brushgaurd since i do a lot of off-roading and the deer population is insane around here. This proved to be handy in driving over trees and pushin stuff off the road, it also got some action latley when i was on my way to school and was about 3 miles from my house and i hit a 300LB Pennsylvania bear, which now resides on my living room floor as a rug that i have no idea where to put.
6th. Mod, this is when i started workin on my engine.
Since i had such a lack of power due to the tires and my 3.45:1 gears, i decided to hop up the little 2.9L cologne V6, it has a 5spd. manual transmission HP clutch, with a dana 28 front axle and a 7.5" rear axle, and a BW-1350 transfer case, manual hubs, manual T-case.

More engine work.
First thing was to cram some air in there, so i made my own Ram air setup, this did ok and added some power, but not near enough. So then i got to talkin to people on a new board that stated up at www.fordranger.com and ended up takin out the spring thats inside the hose to the throttle body. And then added an in box K&N air filter, added: 180 degree thermostat, Ported throttle body, ported intakes, timing advanced to 12 degrees BTDC, custom open filter airbox.
Then i changed over to full synthetic motor oil (Mobil 1 10W40) at 160K miles. I then put on 8MM Ford motorsport spark plug wires and hotter plugs.
